We’re proud to share that Kava is now Cyber Essentials certified, an important step in strengthening how we protect our systems, our data, our clients and our employees.
What is Cyber Essentials?
Cyber Essentials is a government-backed accreditation scheme that helps organisations protect themselves against common cyber threats. It has a broad scope and covers 5 different areas of IT infrastructure:
- Firewalls and routers to ensure boundaries are secure
- Configuration – making sure security gaps are closed
- User access control – ensuring staff only have access to data and systems they need
- Malware protection – defending against viruses, ransomware and malicious software
- Security update management – keeping software, operating systems and firmware up to date
Why does it matter?
Cyberattacks are an increasing risk for organisations of all sizes, and marketing agencies like ours handle sensitive data and manage key platforms. The accreditation demonstrates our commitment to embedding best practice in everything we do, so that our clients know they’re in safe hands.
What it means for us
The assessment process helped us shine a light on all areas of our infrastructure, ensuring we are taking our best practices to the next level. We held a thorough review of our processes, procedures and controls, which was a valuable exercise and has raised awareness of security threats.
This certification reflects the way we think as a business – doing things properly, not cutting corners and continually improving. It also aligns with our responsible and ethical business values as a B Corp™ organisation.
